The photos above some the makeup application and hair styling I did in my assessment. I am happy how the hair turned out because her hair looks very straight and shiny and I like how the wet-look hair has been neatly combed up on the sides; however from a front view the hair doesn't look very smooth or even, making the hair look slightly messy. I struggled to get this hair completely smooth because I found that whenever I combed one section of hair in, other parts would fall loose, making it difficult for me to keep it all tight. I used a pin tail comb with hair spray and gel to slick the hair back; however it is definitely something I need to work on.
I am happy with how the makeup turned out because her face look very dewy and glowy, which is the exact look I was going for. I love how the cheek bone catches the light in the side profile shot because it really intensifies the highlight. I only used powder under her eyes and either side of the nose to set the makeup because these areas usually either crease or get too oily. It may have been more flattering to powder the majority of her forehead and then only highlighted the highest point of highlight because I think it would have made her forehead look smaller. I noticed my model's skin didn't look particularly good as it looked very dry and had many blemishes; I was nervous about this because the dewy skin would only enhance these, however I made sure to cancel out any redness in the spots and moisturise the dry patches to give an even looking complexion. I applied exactly the same products to the neck as I did the face; however this did not translate in this image as her neck still looks very matte. I will have to keep this in mind when I re-do this shoot. I only added a very subtle contour to give her face some dimension and I am really happy with how it looks because it looks so natural. I like that I left the eye brows free of product because my model had full eye brows with a strong shape and I think they would have looked too bold if I had added product. I am really happy with how the eye lashes turned out because they look very fluttery and sparse, giving a feminine, yet high fashion look. The lower lashes are very prominent, giving her a doll-like effect, making her eye look really big and round. I think the lips look very even and clean which I love and I like how the deep red contrasts with her pale complexion. I made sure the lips either side of the lipstick were as close to her skin colour as possible to give the impression that her lips were in fact a tulip shape. Overall I am happy with the makeup; however there is always room to improve!
I am confident with how I worked with my model. I made sure she was always comfortable and relaxed as I made light conversation with her and explained what I was doing each step incase I wanted her to look up or reposition for the makeup to be applied. I asked her before if she was allergic to anything to make sure any products I had would not irritate the skin. I made sure my model turned up about 10 minutes before the assessment began so we could discuss the look and get set up. I asked my model to exfoliate her skin and moisturise the night before to ensure her skin was prepped for makeup application. After the assessment was over I helped her removed her makeup and take her hair out so she felt happy to leave. I am very happy with how my model and I worked together because there was no stress involved.
