For the hair look I wanted to create something that presented wet hair because I want the message of my advert to be that you can get wet and go in the pool but your makeup will still stay flawless, because it's waterproof. Wet look hair is a big 2016 spring/summer hair trend so I thought it would be perfect to incorporate this into my advert look. In the all of the Mac collection adverts I looked at, the models had very big, curly hair; however this wouldn't work with the wet-look I am going for in this advert, so I will have to break the mould for this one!
Wet-look
Look 1
I initially wanted to give my model a hair design that made it look like she has just come out of the water and run her fingers through her hair, sweeping it all backwards. I was inspired by Julien MacDonald and DSquared2's SS16 hair designs because they looked very sleek and sophisticated, but the ends were so wet looking that the looked like they were dripping. However I didn't think this hair look was original enough or fun enough for my girly, summertime themed shoot. I wanted to incorporate wet-look hair, but put it into a style.
Braids
Look 2 - Chosen Look
I was inspired by this image of Kim Kardashian-West's dutch braids. They are a definite trend right now and are very popular with celebrities, including Khloe Kardashian, Selena Gomez and Rita Ora, and girls in the general public. I like how sleek, but fun the hairstyle it and how you can make it as neat or messy as you want to give different effects. You can incorporate wet-look hair into this look, which I think will make it easier and will give a beautiful glossy finish. I like that it is a hairstyle that someone may realistically do after getting out of the pool to get it off your face, but also because when the hair dries you will get beautiful beachy waves. I think that this hairstyle is very flattering because it pulls the hair taught, giving you a slight face lift look, but you still have the length of the hair. I also love how intricate and detailed the hair style looks, but how achievable it is to create.
Look 3
I was inspired by this mohawk braid hair style worn by the SS16 Maggie Barry catwalk models for LA Fashion Week. The hair style was designed by Keratin Complex's Woody Michleb. The complex looking hair style would have first needed to be prepped with a hair gel or smoothing product to tame any fly aways. A square section of hair would then be sectioned off, starting from the front hair line and finishing at the crown of the head. This top section would be put into a neat french plait and continued on to create a standard plait once the end of the section had been reached. The rest of the hair would be scraped and smoothed back into a sleek ponytail just below the crown of the head, with the plait laying over the top. A small section of hair would then be taken from the ponytail and wrapped round the plait and ponytail to secure them both together.
