My brief says that I have to design two catwalk looks; one being a daytime appropriate or natural look and the other being a night time or more dramatic/abstract look. The catwalk looks that I design need to be quick, yet effective so that the makeup artists can achieve the look on different models in a quick time frame. The majority of looks I have researched consist of a natural face with then a certain feature standing out. For example a very neutral, fresh looking face, but then with a dramatic graphic eye liner. However some of the looks that Mac have created are very abstract and fun so I will have to decide what look will suit the clothing brand that I decide to chose for my catwalk show.
I will incorporate some spring/summer 2016 trends, as seen in London, New York etc. Fashion Week, into my catwalk looks to make them look very current and on trend. I will compose the image to look like the model is walking down a catwalk using a blank background and studio lighting so that the makeup shows up with the correct exposure. I want this image to be a head shot so that the makeup is clearly seen.

Jonathan Saunders, London Fashion Week SS16
I decided to chose Jonathan Saunders' Neo-Oriental SS16 collection as the collection I would design my catwalk look for because I was really inspired and excited by the bright colours and beautiful, intricate patterns on the pieces. In knew that the makeup look I created wouldn't be very over dramatic because the clothes are so detailed and fussy that it would just look messy if I did a complicated look. I also really liked the link to the traditional oriental fashion with the wrap dresses and paisley patterns so I wanted to link the makeup with this oriental theme too.
The makeup look that Mac's Mucia Pieroni chose to do was very simple, with a natural overall face and then a vibrant blue pigment rimming the eyes. This makeup look definitely followed the predicted blue eye spring/summer trend which I liked; however I wanted to create a look that I thought would compliment and tie in with the oriental style clothing more closely, still keeping the SS16 trends present. As Mac is a cosmetics line I wanted to design the makeup look first and then have the hair compliment it because I want the Mac makeup to stand out the most to promote and show off the brand.

Hair stylist Luke Hersheson gave the models pin straight hair to complement the oriental style of the collection. He said about this look, "There’s something really fresh about dead straight hair again, I think it’s a backlash against all the waves and movement that are now common on the red carpet". The two makeup and hair looks above show Mac using makeup in a very creative and abstract way; however Mac is a very diverse brand and can therefore give their models soft and natural looks too.
